We switched things up this month and decided to profile Lenovo developer and friend of LenovoDev, Greg Zaitsev. Greg works as a software architect in Lenovo’s Ecosystem and Cloud organization, and also volunteered as a mentor at the HackBCA II hackathon earlier this year. Originally from Moscow, Greg’s work focuses on Windows embedded technologies. He took a few minutes to sit down with us and tell us how he got started coding by complaining about Win95, and which American Idol champion he has on his iPod.
Developing handwriting recognition into apps can increase their value, especially among users with pen-enabled devices. WRITEit now makes it simple for developers to allow screen handwriting in their apps.
Curious about WRITEit but want to see the technology in action before developing with it?
You can see how WRITEit functions in several apps that may be on your system running Windows 8.1. Check out the list of compatible Windows desktop and Modern style applications that you can test drive with WRITEit.
Jared Zoneraich Edmon Berry
We’re going a bit off script with the Developer of the Month for April, but with good reason! We decided to honor the founders of the largest student-run hackathon in the country, Hack BCA in Hackensack,NJ at Bergen County Academy high school – Jared Zoneraich and Edmon Berry. Coming off of their 2nd annual hackathon, Jared and Edmon sat down with us to talk about how they got started, their goals, and which one of them is a Childish Gambino fan.
HackBCA, one of the “premier high school hackathons on the East Coast,” is spreading real enthusiasm for programming and computer science among teens. Lenovo joined the student coders at hackBCA II in March, and we were blown away by their drive, passion and the projects they created in less than 24 hours.
Hackathons are no longer just for professional or collegiate programmers. The events are also attracting youth to learn how to code and build useful technology. But some passionate teenagers are taking it a step further by planning and running hackathons catering to their peers.
One of the common questions from developers is what the benefits are of implementing WRITEit into their apps. The WRITEit technology is designed to give users of your app seamless pen support and another way to interact wherever input is required. In this two-part post series, we will share ideas for developing with WRITEit.
